Meet career adviser Ahmadou.
I have been a Careers Adviser for over 5 years, I am passionate about helping young people make their dreams a reality through education, employment or training. I hope to inspire them by sharing my own journey to becoming a multilingual adviser. I’d like to show young people that when given the appropriate guidance, they too can achieve their goals.
I have travelled around the globe and occupied several job roles from being a gardener to where I am today. I have always sought to support the needs of the local community wherever I have found myself in life.
I am fluent in French, English, Arabic, Malinke and conversational in Malay. Being able to converse in several languages has made me a very broad-minded individual, who is always looking to increase my knowledge. It has undoubtedly been a useful tool when I have worked with refugees and asylum seekers.

Meet Paul, a fully qualified Careers adviser working on multiple contracts across the organisation.
Whats the best part of your job?
A bit broad and possibly cliché, but making a difference which will have a possibly unfathomable ripple effect to the service user, and those who I will never meet like there family, friends and future employer and colleges whom this customer goes onto be a more actualised and positive force to those around them.
What's something we dont know about you?
When I was a kid I was a massive comic book nerd, before Disney made it cool. Never letting go of this passion for modern day mythology I have gone onto amass a rare comic collection that would have made 'adult me' my 'child me's' hero. ha, For the same reason I do this job I also donate blood when I get the opportunity and I'm the very proud father of two amazing girls.

Meet Shannon, a Disability Employment Placement Officer in Nottingham.
Shannon engages with employers to support clients getting into work and work experience every day. Shannon has worked in a number of different roles in Education before getting to Futures and also studied for a degree in Special Educational Needs and Disability at the University of Derby. This shows that with a supportive employer you can achieve the job you desire.
What is your proudest work moment so far?
Finding my first client a work placement with an inclusive employer who encouraged him to do tasks that would normally be out of his comfort zone. It was great to see the client build his confidence and feedback his positive experiences.
“Without my Careers Coach Ann-Louise’s help, I wouldn’t be where I am today.” Jordan from Nottingham
