Alternative Provision

Young people are referred to alternative provisions for a variety of reasons and it’s our job to make sure they still receive educational support while preparing them for the world of work or further education. Our Careers Coaches work with young people on a one-to-one basis to help plan and prepare for their future.

We work with ten dedicated alternative provision providers across the City and County to give young people who can’t continue in mainstream education the chance to succeed, plan and train for a positive future. With these schools, we support students who require extra support around their Behavioural, Emotional and Social Development (BESD), and support them to progress either back into mainstream schools or post 16 Education, Employment, Apprenticeships or Training through education plans specific to the indivudal.

We work with local employers to offer these students the opportunity to volunteer, take part in work experience or careers workshops, taster days and learn from employers about future career options. We aim to make sure each student has at least four interactions with employers to build their confidence, understanding of the world of work, and develop their CV.

We do this on behalf of Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council and are proud to do so.
