£100,000 apprenticeship investment to the East Midlands

14th December, 2017 Read time: Two minutes

The National Careers Service in the East Midlands has been awarded £100,000 to support people into apprenticeships who may not have seen them as a viable employment option in the past.

The National Careers Service will target funding focussing on gaps to existing provision and support available in the area.

The National Careers Service provides information, advice and guidance across England to help people make decisions on learning, training and work. The service offers confidential and impartial advice and is supported by qualified careers advisers. Locally, Futures deliver this service.

For some, apprenticeships have the reputation as being for young people leaving school and a narrow set of sectors offering them. With changes to apprenticeship funding this is no longer the case, and the National Careers Service aims to change this perception with people looking for work and employers.
