YEI Supported Internships

A supported internship is for aged 16-29 people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities that would benefit from some extra help getting into paid work.


What is a Supported Internship?
 

A supported internship is for aged 16-29 people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities that would benefit from some extra help getting into paid work. 

Whilst on the programme your Employability Coach will help you to: 

- Create an up-to-date CV  
- Develop your Employability skills  
- Complete work placement opportunities  
- Build your confidence in your own abilities to perform in the work place 
- Know how to prepare for Interview  
- Help searching for jobs and completing applications with the aim of finding paid work 

What does it involve? 

- You will be allocated your own Supported Internship Employability Coach
- Your Employability Coach will enable you to identify areas where you need support, set personal targets and help you to improve your Employability skills and overcome any barriers to work
- Access to a specialist Employment placement adviser to find a work placement that suits you 
- Work placements will help you to increase your Employability skills and enhance your CV
- You will receive valuable feedback from Employers to aid your development
- Your Coach will support you in finding and applying for suitable opportunities
- Progression into paid work or volunteer work depending on your requirements

What kind of help did you receive from your Employability Coach? 

‘Worked on my CV, volunteer work, help setting up work experience at B&M. Help with getting into Training, college, I am currently at Inspire. I have done more work tasters. I am working on getting better qualifications’. 

Why is it important to gain work experience and training? 

To get more things to put on my CV to help me get a job, Interact with more people. I am more confident and more optimistic about my future now
