    About the Role

     

    Main Purpose of Role

    To operate all communications systems and equipment and deal with enquiries from the public, ensuring that as a department, resources are deployed efficiently throughout the Force and in keeping with performance standards and published policies/guidelines laid down by the Force. To act as a central advisory service for members of the Force and for other Forces making enquiries.

     

    Receive and process the following types of telephone calls within agreed

    Force performance targets:

    • Emergency Services ‘999’ calls
    • Mini-com and for people with hearing disabilities
    • Intruder alarm activations
    • Non-emergency Calls from members of the public
    • Internal personnel and external agencies, other Forces and

    emergency services

    • ‘Call-Outs’ for police surgeon, engineers, recovery etc.
    • Media enquiries

     

    All applicants will be subject to the Force Vetting Policy.

    The post holder will be required to work in a confidential environment, with a high level of integrity, and be vetted to Management Level.

    Successful applicants will also be subject to a drug screening conducted by Alere Toxicology in which samples of hair are collected and analysed to determine whether any substances may be present that could affect the safety, performance or behaviour of that person in the workplace.

    All applicants will be subject to the Force Vetting Policy. This Vetting Process includes Nottinghamshire Police checking details against fraud prevention databases and Biometric Vetting taking of fingerprints and DNA.

     

    About You

    Key Skills & Experience Required

    You must be able to work as part of a team in a busy and stressful environment and have previous experience in the use of telephone and radio equipment and computer systems.  Good accurate keyboard skills along with the ability to converse on the telephone and record information at the same time.

    If you are successful at the shortlisting stage, you will be invited to an online work-based test, where you will need to be able to type a minimum of 30 words per minute, have a good grasp of spelling and be able to demonstrate good accurate keyboard skills along with the ability to converse on the telephone and record information at the same time. Reasonable adjustments can be offered at the testing stage, subject to need.
