Level 1 Health & Social Care qualifications.
With Futures you can now complete a fully-funded Health & Social Care qualification with the option of embedding an additional Employability qualification to enhance your chances of employment.
When studying full time these courses can be completed in as little as:
- Level 1 Health & Social Care - 9 days
- Level 1 Health & Social Care + Employability - 16 days
This qualification is designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge needed to help individuals maintain indepedence and enhance life quality.

Eligibility Criteria
To gain access to our adult courses, you must meet the following criteria:
- Are aged 19 years old or over (must have turned 19 by 31st August 2021)
- Have lived in the UK or a European Economic Area (EEA) Member state for the last three years or more or be an Individual or Asylum Seeker with certain types of immigration status*
- Are actively seeking employment and claiming an unemployment benefit of either: Universal Credit, Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance (WRAG) **
- OR must be earning under £18,525 annual gross salary and be able to commit to the course. Please be aware that for Maths and English you can earn any amount if you can commit to the course.

Level 1 Health & Social Care
Do you have a caring and compassionate nature and yet to find a career that fulfills you? This qualification is designed to offer routes into various reward careers within care homes, hospitals, the community and specialist respite centres.
What will the course cover?
The qualification is made up of 5 topics, some of which include:
- Principlies and values in care
- Person centred care
- Mental health and communication
- Dementia awareness
What can I do next?
Upon completion of your Level 1 Certificate you have a number of new opportunities:
- Apply for a number of entry level roles; Care Assistant, Support Worker or Healthcare Assistant
- Apply for a Level 2 or 3 apprenticeship
- Access further education courses

Bolt-on Employability qualification
If you plan to use your Level 1 Health & Social Care qualification to go directly into employment rather than further education, we offer a Level 1 Employability qualification that can be embedded into your course.
This will provide you with the skills required to succeed at both application and interview.
