Futures are working in partnership with Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) to offer young people access to the Education Industry through accredited short courses.
Subject to eligibility: Only available to people living in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough who are aged between 19-24.

Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications to access employment in Schools or Colleges.
Depending on your experience (if any), goals and ability to commit time to a placement, we offer both Level 1 and Level 2 courses to suit all circumstances:
These courses can be completed in as little as:
- Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools - 15 sessions
- Level 2 Supporting Teaching & Learning - 33 sessions
Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools
This qualification is designed for those with a desire to work in Education and prepares learners for further learning whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting.
What will the course cover?
The qualification is made up of 3 topics including:
- Schools as organisations
- Keeping children and young people safe
- Communicating with children and young people
Training will be delivered both face-to-face and virtually with one session per week for a total of 15 weeks.
What can I do next?
Upon completion of your Level 1 Certificate you have a number of new opportunities:
- Complete our Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning short course
- Apply for a Level 2 apprenticeship
- Apply for employment in a school or college as support staff

Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning
This qualification is ideal for those who are interested in working within a school or college, particularly in the role of a Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant or Learning Support Assistant. It's designed to provide an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people.
What will the course cover?
The qualification is made up of 11 units, some of which include:
- Children and young people’s development
- Supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour
- Communication and professional relationships
Training will be delivered both face-to-face and virtually with one session per week for a total of 33 weeks. You will also be required to complete 125hrs of placement work.
